As restaurants and eateries slowly start to re-open, we know you’re just as glad as we are to get out of the house and to be wined and dined somewhere other than your own home. Although we’ve appreciated having more time to make home-cooked meals, does it really get any better than having your favourite dish prepared for you while you sit back and enjoy a glass of wine?
The Sybarite acknowledges how important the ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ Scheme is for our economy and local businesses, which is why we want to help support these businesses as much as possible. We will do this by partnering with multiple restaurants, both chains and local eateries, to bring a selection of fine dining experiences and taste sensations to our members while proudly supporting the hardworking owners and team members of restaurants.
Why is it important to support this scheme? The objective of this plan is to protect jobs in the hospitality industry which includes restaurants, cafes, pubs and bars, all businesses we love to enjoy and don’t want to see disappear from our towns and cities. Due to the prolonged period of these businesses being closed, they, along with many other industries, have incurred massive economic losses.
In a recent Instagram post, Michelin star chef Tom Kerridge expressed his dismay after 27 people who made reservations at his restaurant on a Saturday night, failed to turn up without bothering to cancel. This led to a massive wastage of food as well as a loss in profit for the restaurant. Many restaurants and cafes are going through the same thing and it’s our job to help sustain these businesses for the future as we venture out of these challenging times. In the hope of aiding these outlets, Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced that “VAT will be reduced from 20% to 5% across pubs, cafes, hotels and restaurants between 15 July and 12 January.”
If you’re a hospitality business or know of one who may wish to join this incentive scheme, head to HMRC’s quick and easy registration page to welcome back customers with 50% off every Monday to Wednesday from 3rd – 31st August, and don’t forget to contact The Sybarite to set up a dining experience via our platform to get more people bustling into your restaurant!
We’ll soon be announcing the restaurants we plan to partner with, so make sure you keep an eye out. In the meantime, to join The Sybarite’s luxury platform, register here as a member or fill in this form to become a partner.
