Sybarite Selections: Couture Wedding Dresses Hot off the Catwalks

Planning a wedding but not sure where to start? Well, first off, congratulations! Secondly, the dress is one of the most important elements of the day. Let us help by picking out the most exquisite couture wedding gowns straight from the spring/summer ’17 bridal catwalks. Take a look below…

Jenny Packham
Toted as the ‘princess designer’, Jenny Packham holds a history for designing the most beautiful, embellished yet subtle dresses which wont make you look like a meringue on your big day. We love this ‘lucky’ dress to make you look like the star – quite rightly.

Zuhair Murad
One of the most outstanding collections at Paris Couture Week, Zuhair Murad says he always dreamt of evading to a world of fantasy. He started sketching dresses at the age of ten, quoted as saying “I don’t recall a day in my life without a pen in my hand!”. We adore this Lyvia dress featuring an original fitted bodice around the hips with cascading chiffon.

Vera Wang
Vera Wang didn’t present her latest collection in her showroom or bridal atelier, but rather employed director Gordon von Steiner to create a film evoking the feel of her bride-to-be. This season also highlighted Wang’s marriage of fluid and structured silhouettes with pieces featuring boning, corsetry, or both. Our highlight is the two-tiered ‘Sigourney’ gown.

Elie Saab
Elie Saab isn’t afraid of grandeur; naturally, neither is his bride. The designer’s debut wedding collection yielded a lineup of 27 styles glamorous enough to make any bride’s trip down the aisle feel like a spin on the red carpet. We love this reinterpretation of Saab’s signature pieces, amping up the feminine factor through a floral-embroidered bodice and sheer sleeves.

Marchesa
There’s always some sort of fantasy woven into Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig’s Marchesa bridal collections. This time, their inspiration came from a fairy-tale garden. Naturally, florals were the theme of choice, rendered as 3-D appliqués with dipping décolletage.
