Weighing 8lbs 7oz, the prince was born at 11:01 UK time, and whilst we haven’t had a statement on his name yet, favourites include Arthur, Frederick and Albert.

The baby boy was born in the private Lindo wing of St. Mary’s hospital in Paddington, where the Duchess of Cambridge delivered Prince George in 2013 and Princess Charlotte in 2015. Prince William and Prince Harry were also born in the Lindo wing.

Kensington palace have released a statement saying Catherine and her son are “both doing well”, and members of both families are said to be “delighted with the news”.

His birth is a historical one, as this is the first time in history a boy will not precede his older sister in the line of succession.
