Luxury Villas: The New Five-Star Hotels

Luxury villa rentals have been increasingly popular alternatives to luxury hotel vacations during these past several years for savvy travelers. But, what is it in particular that is driving holidaymakers into their arms and away from hotels?

Economics
The fact is that Luxury Hotels, besides being “over the top” expensive, mercilessly “nickle and dime” their guests. Like remembrances of the cell phone bills of old, who doesn’t remember the “sticker shock” of your vacation hotel bill when checking out and your credit card on file has been pummeled to death with such “joyful” reminders of Mini-bar charges, the innocuous “daily resort fees,” daily parking charges (even when you have no car), Accommodation taxes, State taxes, City taxes, etc., etc. Finally, how much fun is it to have to go out for literally every single meal(unless electing to pay literally double for already expensive hotel restaurant meals) when you relent to room service?

Privacy
Typically, luxury villas are private vacation homes where the other guests are not on the other side of the wall, as in a hotel…no matter how luxurious the resort stay. The pool, outside patios, tennis courts, spas and all other amenities are “yours” in a villa…not being shared with complete strangers. Who hasn’t laughed at the recent series of HomeAway.com commercials featuring the other “fun” guests at hotels during one’s family vacation? lol

Peace and Quiet
Villas are usually in quiet residential parts of resort area away from all of the multitudes with no hotel lobby and poolside groups disrupting your vacation serenity.

Experience
Luxury vacation villas are often spectacular, one-of-a-kind properties such as actual castles, mansions, chic ski chalets, or oceanfront beach houses, equipped with state-of-the-art appliances in gourmet kitchens, hot tubs, lush pool areas and a host of private amenities.

Financial Benefits
Luxury vacation villa rates, when compared with fine hotels, are simply a better value when traveling with 4 or more guests. A family or a group of friends traveling together may live in absolute luxury at a multi-million dollar villa for less than taking a slew of rooms with all of the ancillary costs of a top resort hotel. Period.
