The Great Scotland Yard Hotel set to thrill lovers of literature and luxury

Fancy yourself a bit of a Sherlock Holmes? Soon you will be able to check in at the old Scotland Yard headquarters made famous by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s novels, for a fix of nostalgic pampering.

The Sybarite likes to think that guests will be able to roam the halls and chambers where England’s sharpest minds once tried to solve the gruesome crimes committed by Jack the Ripper, and then lean back and enjoy a cocktail perhaps aptly named “It’s elementary” in homage to the assistant of the world’s most famous private detective.

As reported by The Guardian, the hotel is poised to open its doors to guests in early 2017. Behind the project are two important groups, Abu Dhabi based Lulu Group International and London’s property developer Galliard Group.  The former is run by Indian business man Mr. Youssuf Ali Kader, owner of one of the world’s fastest developing retailers according to Deloitte.

“The Great Scotland Yard Hotel will be a brand synonymous with exceptional service and refined luxury and quality,” said Don O’Sullivan, managing director of Galliard upon the announcement of the project. The refurbishment of the famous building is estimated to have a price tag of £50 million, and the seven-storey hotel will feature ultra-luxurious suites, two bars, restaurants, a library, lobby and entertaining room.

The hotel will be operated by German luxury hotels and resorts group Steigenberger, known for running properties with an important history. With single night stays starting at £10,000, the property will cater to those with the most refined tastes and deep pockets, not to mention a penchant for noir literature and historical facts.
