Construction of the world’s biggest skyscraper is now underway in Dubai. The proposed 3,045-foot luxury residential and commercial building will beat the city’s current record-holding skyscraper, the 2717-foot-tall Burj Khalifa, by 328 feet. The $1 billion building is designed by famed Spanish-Swiss architect Santiago Calatrava, who was also behind the World Trade Center Transportation Hub in New York and the Museum of Tomorrow in Rio de Janeiro. The building is part of the Dubai Creek Harbor development, a real estate project led by developer Emaar Properties that is expected to double the size of Dubai’s downtown. It should be completed in 2020.

The self-professed lover of hotel living will work on a line of members’ clubs, restaurants, and residential buildings, an area he has previously lent his skills to (Lagerfeld oversaw the design of a large hotel in Macau, China, and designed two suites for the Hôtel de Crillon in Paris, amongst others).

Set around picturesque lakes, Camel Creek Resort will be Britain’s first-ever six-star resort. The scheme will have 236 holiday lodges, a leisure park, convention centre and an exhibition space; as well as shops, restaurants and a pub.

A new exhibition of work by Rio de Janiero artist Maria Nepomuceno will feature vibrant and seductive floor- and wall-based sculptural works and is the artist’s first at Victoria Miro Mayfair. ‘Sim’ expands upon the artist’s methods of rope weaving and straw braiding, in which pre-existing and found elements such as branches, twigs, seed pods, playful ceramic forms and paint brushes merge with the organic forms of the sculptures.
