Having just had our second baby, my husband and I wanted to find somewhere gloriously indulgent to enjoy our wedding anniversary, which would also take us away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and allow us to truly relax. We found the perfect place, a jewel in the crown of the iconic Corinthia Hotel London, Espa Life is one of London’s premium luxury spa locations. Its facilities are hard to beat, the design and finish is world-class and the treatments on offer are ground-breaking. Occupying 3,300 square feet over four levels, it’s a futuristic oasis with 17 treatment ‘pods’, a chill out lounge, state-of-the-art gym, nail studio and a Daniel Galvin hair salon.
As luxury spas go, this one is particularly romantic. Once changed into our swimwear, we headed straight for the glamorous pool with its stainless steel floor shimmering on the ceiling above. After spending some time going between the sauna, steam room and vitality pool, which was truly divine for my aching body, it was time for our treatments. We had both opted for the inner calm massage (just what you need with two children under 4!) and it was perfect; the massage is personalised to your physical and emotional needs.
I was asked to choose an aromatherapy blend by smell. Apparently your mind will pick the one your body needs the most. Mine was relax – no surprise there! I explained that my upper back was under a lot of strain at the moment and the therapist adapted the massage to my needs. She even used hot stones to really treat my sore muscles. It was just what I needed and was without a doubt one of the best massages I’ve ever experienced. It’s obvious that the therapists at Espa Life are some of the best in the field and are very highly trained. I really didn’t want it to end, but sadly like all good things, it did.
Post-treatment we returned to the spa to chill on one of the enormous heated beds, warmed by a cosy roaring fire. There is also the option of commandeering one of the Sleep Pods for some shut eye, a very popular option for visitors.
This spa oozes luxury, and with no access to my phone any worries of the world simply drifted away, leaving me unbelievably relaxed.
