Pampered Pets on Private Jets

Private jet charter companies are branching out – a small, albeit growing, division of jet companies are specialising in flying pets on their private charters. Wealthy individuals and families need not travel without their beloved pets any longer, as I learned of a couple and their two cats currently on route to Maui from Oakland, California in a G-4 for the one way fare of $50,000.

So how did this unique niche in private aviation come about?

In 2008 an aeronautics professional, noting the changing regulations on commercial airlines regarding pet transportation and the evolving restrictions, decided to do some research. Soon afterwards the FAA was required to post the incidences of pet fatalities during transportation (as they are usually carried in less than savoury means whilst flying) and the public outrage was such that he decided to start Pets Jets.

Pets Jets received some great press and the interest of a few airline charters to service this need.

Now, Pets Jets is under the mantle of a very large (7000 jets) private aviation firm. Guests can take advantage of the ease of service firms such as these firm provide, being whisked away on a private jet to a number of wonderful locations the world over. In fact, unlike many 5 star hotels, which tend to be rather pet unfriendly, private villas or chalets can be much more accommodating, with some catering specifically to the pet market. A perfect option for holiday home owners who wish to bring their pets with them in the same luxury they enjoy
