Bicester Village X British Wool Collective

In collaboration with Campaign for Wool and the British Fashion Council, Bicester Village has welcomed the newly opened British Wool Collective boutique to showcase the very best of British and merino wool. In support of Campaign for Wool’s ‘Wool Week’ in the UK, the British Wool Collective boasts a remarkable assortment of knitwear from luxury brands such as Pringle of Scotland, Chinti & Parker, John Smedley, Johnstons of Elgin, Brora, Crumpet and Markus Lupfer, along with Ross Barr, who is a graduate of The Prince’s Trust.

This week also highlights the first anniversary of the launch of Bicester Village Station, opened by Chiltern Railways in October 2015. The new service allows guests to travel from London Marylebone and step into the Village from just 46 minutes later. Following a year of resounding success, the station has revolutionised the way guests have spent time at Bicester Village.

Dave Penney, Managing Director for Chiltern Railways, said: “We opened Bicester Village station just 12 months ago as part of a wider £130 million investment to deliver a new route between Oxford and London Marylebone. The line has created a seamless travel experience for customers; with one in ten visitors now travelling by train, this will only increase due to the ease of travel and journey times from just 46 minutes.”

At the press launch, guests were treated to the exceptional Bicester Village hospitality, with Village bell boys on hand and a beautiful winter spread hosted at Soho House & Co’s farmshop restaurant & cafe. Of course, a visit to the Village would not be complete without time spent drifting between boutiques, revelling in the abundance of world-famous brands, and press day guests are able to shop to their heart’s content throughout the day.

“His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, Patron of the Campaign for Wool, and Alex James, musician, writer, and presenter of the film Slowing Down Fast Fashion have recently made common cause to encourage consumers and retailers to choose wool for all its environmental advantages in a retail climate that currently favours unsustainable fast fashion.” Peter Ackroyd, COO for the Campaign for Wool.

The British Wool Collective at Bicester Village now open until January 2017. Find out more here.
