Every week, The Sybarite collates its pick of the hottest luxury lifestyle news into bite-size chunks. In this week’s edition, we cover Aperol’s summer socials, the new luxury hotel opening in the old Titanic offices in Belfast, a private island up for sale, and a luxurious speakeasy bar just opened in NYC.

Aperol ‘spritz-up’ summer with nationwide socials 

This summer, Aperol Spritz will be hosting a series of pop-up events in London, Manchester and Liverpool. These ‘Aperol Spritz Socials’ will feature surprises such as Sunset Spritz DJ sets with headline acts, to one of the world’s biggest spreads of cicchetti (Italian tapas-style small plates) by renowned Peckham-based Italian dining hall, Forza Win. Guests can also expect hands-on Aperol Spritz masterclasses and sociable Aperol games. Sign up for this Thursday’s London event here.

As well as the Aperol Spritz Socials, Aperol lovers will be able to enjoy a long, orange summer, with pop-up Aperol bars and events, touring cities across the country with over 300 live locations and days. Titanic Hotel Belfast

Luxury hotel due to open at Titanic Drawing Offices

A new luxury hotel in the former Harland & Wolff headquarters and Drawing Offices in Belfast – where over 100 years ago draftsmen designed the luxury liners – is due to open on 10 September 2017. The £27m Titanic Hotel Belfast features 119 rooms with views of the city’s historic shipbuilding sites, the Harland & Wolff cranes, Titanic Belfast and the slipways.

The distinctive arches have been kept and original moulding restored. Floor and wall tiles have been reclaimed from the main building, and original tiles that surround the main bar are identical to those used for HMS Titanic’s swimming pool.

Island on the Great Barrier Reef up for sale

For less than the price of a family house in London, you can get your hands on a luxury private island off the Great Barrier Reef. The price for Wedge Island has dropped from $850,000 to just $495,000. The secluded oasis features 23 acres of sandy beaches and is a great spot for fishing – especially crayfish.

The stunning tropical island is located about 1km from the iconic white sand shores of Great Keppel Island and is about a 5km boat ride from the coastal town of Emu Park, central Queensland.

The Office, Columbus Circle, New York

Speakeasy bar opens at the Mandarin Oriental in New York

A slick new bar atop the Mandarin Oriental hotel in New York City has just opened this month.  ‘The Office’ is located in Midtown and the opulent 44-seat space features luxury food such as foie gras, jamon Iberico and caviar. There’s also a selection of rare spirits that cost up to $500 an ounce and Prohibition-era cocktails such as an Old Fashioned or Amaretto Sour.
