Lake Como’s most-anticipated hotel opens its doors
Potentially one of the most-hyped openings of 2016, Il Sereno Lago di Coma has finally opened to the public, welcoming its first guests this month. Furnished by local artisans, this elegant retreat was designed by top Italian designer, Patricia Urquiola. All 30 suites feature panoramic views of Lake Como and private terraces, and are styled in grey, walnut and green earth tones. With a restaurant headed by Michelin starred chef Andrea Berton and handmade Cantiere Ernesto Riva boats available to guests wishing to explore the lake, this is perfect for an end of summer getaway.
Luxury Mercedes concept contains wine chiller
The luxury four-seater, called the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6, is almost six metres long and can go from 0-62mph in less than 4 seconds, continuing to accelerate until it reaches a limited 155mph. However, what really sold us here at The Sybarite, was the bespoke bottle chiller designed to carry two bottles of wine – the ultimate travel accessory!
Invictus Yacht 370 GT debuts in Cannes
At this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival (September 6 -11), Invictus will debut its flagship model 370 GT. She has a range of unique elements for a yacht of its size, including the retractable lateral terrace, the submersible gangway and an infinity of other options offered thanks to the “Atelier Invictus”. At 11.4 meters in length, with a maximum beam of 3.5 meters, Invictus can carry up to 12 passengers and is available in four different colours.
Cartier mansion set to re-open in September
In 1917, Pierre Cartier hoped to purchase a limestone mansion on Fifth Avenue. In exchange, he offered a $1 million pearl necklace admired by the wife of financier Morton F. Plant, who owned the building. Mrs. Mae Plant wore the double strand of pearls, Cartier (grandson of the French jeweler’s founder) lived on the top floors, and the rest of the house became Cartier’s flagship store, a New York City landmark. Now, after a two-and-a-half year renovation, the Cartier mansion will now re-open in early September.
