Nourish London – A Treat For Your Skin

As life slows down a bit, we all have more time on our hands. Not only is this a great time to get some of those nagging jobs  that you always put off done, but it also gives you the perfect opportunity to revitalise your skincare routine and try out some new brands.

Nourish London is one brand that I have been testing since my time at home, alongside being able to support British brands during these uncertain times.

Nourish London uses the latest and most innovative natural science to release the power of nature’s bounty, creating powerful bio-active products that work in harmony with your skin’s natural processes. The brand uses only the purest, highest quality, cruelty-free ingredients and the skincare range is vegan. It is alcohol-free and excludes unfriendly chemicals such as synthetic colours, TEA, DEA, parabens, phenoxyethanol, sulphates, mineral oils, PEGS and silicones.

Nourish London was created by Dr Pauline Hili, a renowned expert in organic skincare with over 30 years experience harnessing the potent power of natural ingredients to create the most effective and innovative natural and organic skincare.

The philosophy behind Nourish London is to adapt to your needs and empower you to make choices about your skincare. The concept is nature and nurture. Your skin is a dynamic organ that changes regularly and your lifestyle has an influence on how your skin behaves. Nourish London encourages people not to stay wedded to a skin type but engage with what is happening with their world and how their skin behaves as a result. The emerging theories on ageing suggest regular maintenance of the skin rather than a single magic solution, is the key to slowing ageing.

Pollution is a significant cause of skin problems today. Pollutants such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and heavy metals attach themselves to microscopic particles that not only sit on the skin but are small enough to penetrate the dermis causing an increase in the production of free radicals on and beneath the skin, resulting in damage to the skin. This can be seen as dull skin, skin breakouts and premature ageing.

Nourish London’s latest range uses the benefits of superfood kale to help the skin. We all know that it is important to eat your greens. You may have started your day with a healthy kale smoothie or had a nutrient-rich kale salad for lunch or dinner, but there are major benefits of this powerful superfood on your skin and it can also help protect against the effects of pollution.

Kale is high in vitamins A and K and is a powerful antioxidant. When applied topically (or consumed through the diet) kale protects skin elasticity by protecting elastin molecules, decreasing the appearance of wrinkles and improving skin suppleness; effectively slowing the ageing process. Vitamin K is ideal for reducing redness of the skin, promoting healing and reducing swelling. Applying kale directly to the skin is an excellent way to detoxify and protect it from the effects of pollution and to build resilience within the skin. Kale contains an enzyme system that helps eliminate environmental stressors. These phytonutrients and the enzyme systems associated with them help to protect our skin cells from environmental damage.

My favourite product from the range is the kale 3D Cleanse (£25), which is suitable for all skin types, It picked up Gold in the Green Parent Natural Beauty Awards and was crowned the winner in the Shortlist Beauty awards. It is a unique face cleanser that not only deeply cleanses and refreshes the skin but also removes impurities and protects against pollution, while injecting some fun into your routine as it actually changes colour! It emerges from the pump dispense bottle as a thickish creamy colour and as you massage it into your skin it turns green – not Wicked Witch of the West green but more of an appealing sage. It has been scientifically formulated with hyaluronic acid, probiotics and oxygenating extracts to energise and refresh the skin. And it’s been supercharged with kale and griffonia to detoxify and protect against pollution, helping to minimise signs of ageing. After the first use, I was wowed by the results it delivered. While some cleansers leave an unwanted tautness, this 3D Cleanse left my skin feeling velvety soft.

Other products that I love include the Kale Anti-Aging Eye Cream (£30). Supercharged with Biomimetic peptides, this stimulates the production of structural skin components to firm and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Superfood KALE, Maqui Berry and Pomegranate enzymes help counter puffiness and dark circles.  The Kale Anti-Aging Hand Cream (£12.50) is an innovative treatment for sensitive, irritated dry hands, with its patent-pending anti-irritation complex of ginger root extract and healing Bisabolol helps correct uneven pigmentation, reduces inflammation and supports the skin structure to minimise the signs of ageing.

The range is very affordable and definitely worth a try if you fancy changing up your skincare routine.
