The Conrad Hong Kong makes you feel at home in Southeast Asia

The Conrad Hotel is among the first luxury hotels The Sybarite had the pleasure of experiencing. It is also the first flagship of the Conrad Hotel collection. Located in Admiralty, one of Hong Kong’s desirable precincts, The Conrad makes for convenient accessibility being directly linked to the city’s prestigious shopping and entertainment mall the Pacific Place – that’s shopping sorted then!

If there is one word to describe the Conrad Hong Kong it is ‘nurturing’. The hotel has been around since 1990 and most of their staff have been employed since the day it opened. Guests  continue to return simply owing to the fact that the Conrad staff know exactly what they expect whenever they return to the hotel. (A Princess whose name we are not allowed to disclose for example is a returning guest and will always receive the VIP set up.)

Towering 61 stories, the Conrad rooms start from the 40th floor up to the 58th floor. The Sybarite sampled the Executive Suite, which provides substantial views of Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour – a view that many properties in Hong Kong try to include in their structures. At the Conrad, you can either choose the Harbour or Peak View rooms, both offering generous views – and quite frankly – signature views of Hong Kong.

The style is what you might expect for an Executive Suite, nothing too fancy yet it is sophisticated. Rooms were clean and temperature controlled, which is what you would want in a city that often deals with high humidity. Perhaps the best and most talked about feature is Conrad’s bedding and pillow options, which you’re able to select on the pillow menu located on the bedside table. (Ours was perfect, so there was no need for that.) Each room also comes with its own Nespresso machine, a fully stocked mini bar, dockets for your iPhone and bathroom television with on-demand movies, to mention a few.

Upon arrival, it was as if the staff knew that its guests needed a few minutes to unwind and admire the view. Left undisturbed, it was not until ten to fifteen minutes later that our bags were brought up and we were offered a welcome tea and a hot towel – perfect to start our Conrad journey.

The Conrad experience is one of nurture and comfort. It is also convenient as it houses six restaurants, one of which has a Michelin Star; the Golden Leaf Restaurant. The restaurant offers an excellent introduction to Cantonese cuisine with a contemporary twist in plating. We recommend Golden Leaf’s barbeque specialty like the succulent Cha Siu (also known as barbeque pork) and crispy crackling pork, sure to get your taste buds going. The hot and sour piquant soup with seafood is another favourite, as it compliments the barbeque platter very well. If one is unsure of what to order, do not worry. The restaurant will happily put together a menu for the dinner depending on any dietary requirements.

As an Executive guest, some of the benefits include access to the Executive Lounge located on the 59th floor. Complimentary breakfast buffet, afternoon tea, evening cocktails, tea and coffee is offered throughout the day and guests can access the lounge whenever they need some quiet time. Again, the lounge offers unparalleled views of the city’s gorgeous skyline.

Furthermore, although the Conrad is a very busy hotel, it still goes a step ahead in terms of services. Guests are able to customize their stay with the Concierge mobile app, which is your gateway to all of the “luxury services available in each of the Conrad hotels, all from the palm of your hand”. Take your pre-arrival for example “whether you want to skip check-in or have something waiting for you when you arrive; take care of anything and everything you need with the help from your hotel’s concierge through the Conrad Concierge App”.

And if you only have one, two or three hours to spare, the Conrad has put together a fabulous itinerary to let you explore the city in a matter of a few hours. Each itinerary has been thoughtfully put together, whether you’re a foodie, a shopaholic or just love to explore. The best bit is, guests get the full insider guide to Hong Kong’s local discoveries.

The Conrad Hong Kong is a hotel that we truly recommend, not just because of its name but because it suits and welcomes guests that are in Hong Kong for either business or leisure. The hotel has found its own way of combining the best of entertainment and comfort whilst constantly nurturing both new and returning guests. Whether one fancies taking up the Executive Rooms, or even the Suites such as the King Presidential which includes its own walk-in closet, powder room and fitness room, the Conrad team will do its utmost to provide a hospitality experience according to your standards.
